Crossbasket Castle Testimonials

Crossbasket Castle is one of the finest dining experiences we have had. The surroundings are stunning and the service, every member of staff and food match the surroundings. The passion that has gone into the renovation of the building and the passion of the staff, many of whom are from the area, is there to be seen and the food is a joy. Every detail is considered. A superb dining experience!

We had an amazing lunch at Crossbasket Castle. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable; the mocktails fab and the food was just amazing. Our experience was enhanced by the small tour we got and the beautiful scenery and views. A very memorable lunch.

Lovely dinner, tasting menu for 4, I had the paired wines which were beautifully chosen. Staff couldn't have been more attentive whilst keeping carefully out of the way while we chatted. The Crossbasket renovations are lovely, I remember the state it was in when the nursery ran out of what is now the main dining room.
We'll pop back for afternoon tea soon - thank you everyone!

It was my first visit there and it was a wonderfull experience. I was there with great friends and my niece to celebrate her birthday. The staff were first class and the food was out of this world. The manager and all the staff could not have been more welcoming and the decor and the ambiance is second to none. Five star all the way.

What a fantastic day we had, we can't thank Vicki and Rob enough for making the day go so smoothly. Such a perfect day and night, they made our wedding perfect by paying attention to every small detail.

From a guest’s/supplier’s perspective I had the privilege of attending the wedding at the weekend of my cousin Scott to his lovely new bride Megan at Crossbaskets Castle. I felt I couldn’t let the event pass without letting you know how I feel on reflection. I had been asked by Megan to make the cake after tasting my baking at Granny’s 90th birthday. I don’t usually bake to order for other people (and certainly had never stacked a cake before), but as it was a special occasion, and for family, I agreed. I have to admit, to say I was nervous and stressed was a huge understatement. My aunt (groom’s mum) encouraged me to attend at the venue to get a better idea of what challenges I might face getting the cake to the venue and once there. I hold my hand up and have to admit that having heard about the cost of the extensive renovations, the high standard of the chefs and the venue itself, I was expecting somewhere with a superior attitude (to put it nicely). I was wrong. I nervously turned up unannounced a couple of days before the wedding and was warmly welcomed by a lady at the door. I explained why I was there and was handed over to a gentleman I now know to be Rob the general manager. Rob was great, showing us around the venue, explaining layout, access etc., answering all my questions. I immediately felt more at ease. On the morning of the wedding, I was made to feel very welcome by all the staff, who were obviously making the preparations for the afternoon. I met April who assured me she was there to do the worrying. Every request I made was passed on and followed through, from requesting I be there when the cake was removed from the box and moved (Rob came looking for me), to requesting the jus to be separate at the meal. Everything was not a problem and followed through. I believe that this is the kind of thing that sets you apart from other establishments. Let’s not kid ourselves, I am not a company who makes cakes for a living. I am just a home baker who was doing this for her cousin. Your staff made me feel like I was so much more than that. And everything I’ve mentioned seems to be the general theme of the guests’ experiences having now spoken about it with a few members of my family. Every single member of staff made everyone feel welcome. Nothing anyone requested was too much trouble, even to Rob getting involved with props - lifesize cutout of the groom in a bride’s dress during best man’s speech. I am struggling to find something to improve on. Actually, nope, can’t think of anything. And the icing on the cake (pardon the pun) being the amazing building and grounds. I will be raving about this wedding for a long time to come and it is in no small way due to Crossbaskets Castle. Thank you so much for everything all your guys did that day. Keep it up.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Crossbaskets Castle. Yesterday I attended my cousins wedding at Crossbaskets. The last time I was there at a wedding was 20 years ago this month. My friend asked me to take lots of photos so that she can see how it has changed. Think I'll be telling her to pay you a visit. To say that the day exceeded my expectations was an understatement. Your staff were superb. From staff greeting us at our car with umbrellas on arrival, many serving staff on hand with drinks, canapés etc and always someone to offer help if you looked a little lost trying to find something. The food was exceptional and bar prices much more reasonable than previous wedding guests had informed me!!! This was a lovely surprise for everyone. I feel that the service was excellent but not with the stuffiness you get from some upmarket venues. This gave a classy, professional but relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Clearly a credit to the staff you employ. I'll be looking for an excuse to come back. A huge thanks again.
