The following list provides details of the golf courses within a two-hour drive of Crossbasket. We suggest when booking a round of golf that you check their requirements, green fees and availability as this can vary considerably.

Cathkin Braes Golf Club - 18 Hole, Par 71, 6209 Yards

Cathkin Braes Golf Club founded in 1888 is the oldest Golf Club in the Glasgow area still to be playing on the same site with the course situated just east of the conservation village of Carmunnock. James Braid was commissioned by the club to help develop the course as it increased in size and popularity.

In recent years with a growing reputation as one of the best inland courses in the West of Scotland golfing success has come to the club as the Cathkin Braes Brand Putter Team have won their competition against all the Golf Clubs in the South of Glasgow for the third year in a row. Scott Jamieson who currently plays on the European Tour honed his skills as a Junior member of Cathkin Braes and is now an Honorary member.

East Kilbride – 18 hole, Par 70, 6220 yards

East Kilbride Golf Club is a mature, challenging parkland golf course on the edge of East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, Scotland and is the only private golf club in the fast-expanding Lanarkshire town.

A strong, active membership and visiting parties from all over the UK, enjoy the challenge of the mature, tree-lined, parkland course designed by Fred Hawtree and offering a variety of tough and diverse holes.

They have been in our present Nerston location since the late 1960s and what was a young, immature course has now blossomed into a true and enjoyable test of golf.

Kirkhill – 18 hole, Par 70, 5780 yards

Kirkhill Golf Club was founded in 1910 from some former members of Cambuslang Golf Club. The Club house was built as a dwelling house, just in case the new venture did not work out. The founders certainly had some vision, energy and only four years after the founding of the club they arranged an exhibition golf match which was held in June 1914. The legendary golfer Harry Vardon, 6 times Open champion played with George Duncan who also won the Open in 1920.

At the time of the match, June 1914, Harry Vardon had already won the British Open five times. He went on to win his 6th Open at Prestwick in July of that year. Vardon won the British Open a record six times (1896, 1898, 1899, 1903, 1911, 1914), and was runner-up four times. He also won the U.S. Open in 1900. Harry Vardon quote: "Don't play too much golf. Two rounds a day is plenty."

Langlands – 18 hole, Par 70, 5957 yards

Langlands golf club is a private membership club attached to Langlands golf course. The golf course is operated by south Lanarkshire council.

Joining the golf club does not give free access to the golf course - our members have to pay green fees to SLC for play on the golf course. Details of current green fees can be found on the south Lanarkshire council golf section website - you can go there by clicking here.

Although we are a private club, we do have certain privileges on the course e.g. the club has block booking times from 7am until 2pm every second Saturday to run our medal competitions.

The club also has 3 days each year when we have sole access to the course to run our open competitions. Every Saturdays from march - October we have a competition for gents, ladies and juniors. We have the tee reserved every other Saturday, with members requiring to book their own tee times out with these dates.

There is also a ladies 9-hole competition every second Wednesday running from May - September.
