Getting to Crossbasket Castle

Situated in the heart of Scotland, with access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports, making your way to our historic estate is decidedly straightforward. Use the filters below to find the relevant directions and advice.

By road

  • See driving directions below or visit Little’s to arrange a private chauffeur.

    Head east, merge onto M8 towards Edinburgh/Glasgow, then take the M74 exit towards Carlisle. At junction 5, take the A725 exit to East Kilbride/Coatbridge/Bellshill then at the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the E Kilbride Expressway/A725.

    In 2 miles, take the B7012 exit towards Blantyre.  At the roundabout take the 3rd exit for Blantyre, then at the first set of traffic lights, go straight and at the second set of traffic lights, turn left towards High Blantyre.

    Following the road, then turn right onto Stoneymeadow Road, the castle is on the right after the road bends.

    Follow the M8 west bound heading towards Glasgow.  Exit onto Bellshill Bypass/A725 towards Carlisle. Take the B7012 exit towards Blantyre.

    At the roundabout take the 3rd exit for Blantyre, then at the first set of traffic lights, go straight and at the second set of traffic lights, turn left.

    Following the road, then turn right onto Stoneymeadow Road, the castle is on the right after the road bends. 

By rail

  • We are just a short distance from Blantyre Train Station.

    From Glasgow Central, a Scotrail service to Blantyre Train Station will take approximately 20 minutes. From there, a taxi would be required for the short distance to the Castle.

    We recommend Hastie Cars on +44 (0)1698 825000 and advance bookings would be required. Alternatively, speak with our reservations team when making your booking.  

By air

  • International commercial flights from the US, Canada and Europe can be made to both Edinburgh Airport and Glasgow Airport. Glasgow Airport is 13 miles away and Edinburgh Airport is 40 miles away.

  • If arriving by helicopter, note that we do not have a helipad onsite. However, we are able to assist with landing on nearby farmland. Please contact us for further details.
