Yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body. Join us at Crossbasket Castle for a day of relaxation and rejuvination at our Yoga Retreat.
We will start our Yoga Day with some breathing exercises to help us feel calm, focused and energised allowing us to focus on our yoga practice, preparing our body and mind for the physical practice by quieting the mind and feeling present in the moment.
Yoga Flow
We will then begin our yoga practice, a flow of some asanas (postures) from the Ashtanga Yoga Primary sequence designed to improve strength, flexibility and balance as well as opening the energy channels of the body supporting physical health and mental relaxation.
Relaxation
Taking some time to relax and feel. Relax every physical and mental tension, heal the mind putting worries and concerns aside, release tension and rejuvenate the nervous system.
12.00 – 1300 Lunch
Mindful Walk
After lunch we will enjoy a mindful walk in nature around the beautiful grounds of the castle, and as we walk focusing on the environment, sounds and sights around us, the sensations in the body, feeling calm and focused. We will then return to the Yoga room for a restorative and mindful yoga practice.
Mindful Yoga
Starting with a mindful meditation finding feelings of calm, clarity and contentment before beginning our afternoon practice. Then enjoying some slow relaxing movement, holding postures for longer periods reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation, whilst targeting the deep connective tissues in the body cultivating patience and improving flexibility.
Yoga Nidra
A guided meditation also known as ‘yogic sleep’ or ‘effortless relaxation’. The practice draws the attention inwards, finding an equilibrium between wakefulness and sleep taking us effortlessly into a state of harmonious, blissful and restful wellbeing.
Yoga Nidra helps calm anxiety and stress, releases tension and provides deep relaxation.
